Menus and décor compliment one another, being a modernist dinner house with profound Northwestern influence, an ideal somewhere between "Twin Peaks" and a chic, cosmopolitan truck stop. Like the name itself, Doug Fir conveys a local traditionalism, and the menus, the hospitality, the sense of old-school comfort and elegance follow that mark. Signature menu items include Filet Mignon & Eggs Breakfast, Blackberry Salad, Venison Tenderloin, Joe's Special and Biscuits & Gravy served 21 hours a day.

"Finally a great joint opens in Portland, and its on the East side! The coolest looking restaurant and bar in town? Doug Fir! the best new music venue in town? Doug Fir Lounge (the club/music venue in the basement - check it out)! A great place to eat, thats open 7am to 4am (how cool is that!?! and the food is great; kinda faux fancy Americam style and affordable)? Doug Fir! A place where you can sip a killer fancy schmancy cocktail, or get a $3.50 well drink in an all smoke-free, amazingly sexy, log cabin on acid environment? Yes, you guessed it; Doug Fir! Did i mention its on the East side of town? So nice. Thanks again, Doug Fir. You hit the nail on the head. Many times. "
